Guys.

On behalf of the entire Organising Committee for Annual Camp '08,

We would like to declare it a SUCCESS! =DD

To speak the truth,

none of us expected the first day to be as smooth-sailing as what we saw on the 26th.

It was totally fantastic, and unexpected.

And many thanks for the constructive feedback given to us,

it was really encouraging, most of it.

The End-of-Camp video is not with me now,

but I will get it along with the pictures from Long lao shi ASAP.

Meanwhile, rest well and prepare to go back to school again...

While we hope that this camp has ended your holiday on a eventful mood,

Please do cherish the times that you had.

We hope that you have understood more about the importance of bonding in CO and why each year's Organising Committee makes a great effort in doing this.

Please treasure our efforts, start talking with your new friends,

and who knows?

Communication within our CO may get stronger than what we can expect and imagine.

However, for such things to happen,

it does not occur just simply by attending a camp.

This requires INITIATIVE.

So do your part, get moving,

and get our CO more glued than before. ;)

We hope that everything will go according to plan,

It will be overnight. ;)

And dismissal time will be 11am on Sunday (Estimate).

Planning for camp is going on well,

everything is moving according to plan.

Another thing we would liek to highlight would be the poor attendance rate.

At the current tally, we have 77 members up to date,

but our average attendance rate is only about 30-45 per practice.

This is totally unacceptable, and we will be stepping up measures to ensure that attendance maintains about 60.

SLs and ASLs would also be required to type and collate a list of members who failed to turn up for any xiaozu and dazu, and write valid reasons on why.

This is to be submitted by next week, and handed to long lao shi for further action.

1) Marsiling Chinese Orchestra Concert

Venue: Singapore Conference Hall

Date/Time: 26th December, 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced at $15/$25

We hope that more people will support this event that Marsiling CC holds each year.

Besides being able to watch a CO perform songs of non-Chinese origin,

This is also a chance for members to understand more about how externals COs work.

That is, if you are considering to join one.

Some highlights of the concert will be songs from ABBA, To Zanarkand, Mario ^^

Hwa Chong Exchange Programme

Just want to voice something out.

After 3 days of last-minute collating,

it is really disappointing to see such a lousy turnout.

The word used here is LOUSY.

Sorry for this, but the number of members who will be attending the Hwa Chong JC Exchange Programme is so little that if there's a war between our school CO with some other school's CO,

we can be crushed in just a minute.

Dun believe?

My latest Stats after submitting to HCJC is 7.

Yes, 7.

After counting me and Kenneth in.

That will be 3 Sec 2s, 2 Sec 3s and 2 Sec 1s.

Perhaps everyone does not understand the meaning of this exchange programme.

The main intention was to watch other schools perform and learn new things from them.

Get to know more people, and improve your connections.

But when the Opportunity Window opened for you,

you closed it.

Let us compare with a school, Chung Cheng High School (Main).

The number of members going has hit 40 plus,

As compared to last year's 20.

While for us, from last year's 20 we dropped to 7.

It's amazing, you know, the drop.

If you cannot make it, it's ok.

But for those who said they did not want to go,

I'm really wondering why.

No performance.

No homework.

No fees to pay.

All games.

Talk all you can.

Really, I'm starting to wonder.

It's very disappointing, that's all I can say.

But kudos to the younger ones who can make it (I'm not talking about myself),

it shows their willingness to interact, socialise and learn.

It was held at St. Francis Xavier Church at 10.30am,

and our seniors from batch '03 were also there.

It was fun looking at Long lao shi there, and wearing a dress...

Well, yesterday ms. Leong, Jason, ZhenWei and Xuaniming went to SCH for SYF rehearsal balloting, and the date we got is rather weird - 2009 february the 2nd, 7.45pm to 8.45pm, yarp, this is two months before the actual rehearsal and we are telling you here to keep that day free.

Hello everyone!

Sorry no time to post for the past few days...

There will be no dazu tmrw.

We believe that your SLs would have told you that.

The next dazu will be held on Wednesday, 12/11 from 1pm to 4pm.

Until then, further notices will be given to everyone.

SYF Set Piece is out, so this is not the time to rest on your laurels.

In fact, it is time when we have to move on quickly, full steam ahead.

Practice hard during your holiday xiaozu,

cos when school reopens everyone will be very, very busy adapting to life again.

Worse, there will also be open house, Sec 1 Orientation etc to distract us.

But nevertheless, we hope that no matter what obstacles that lay ahead,

we will move on as a CO,

And will be well-prepared to defend the Gold-with-Honours earned and well-sustained by our past 2 batches of seniors.

This competition is organised by the Wushu team.

It has not been confirmed, and is still waiting for the PE Department to given the green light.

It will be held after the "O" levels, and details will be given out at a later date.

I'm sure we've told everyone about the Set Piece.

Amidst upcoming intensive practices,

we hope that everyone will stay close to each other during this period of time,

and forge better bonds before SYF' 09.

Hi again.

My final update, before leaving this dead for 2 weeks.

Naturally, it won't sound perfect at this point of time.

But as we practice more and more,

I will upload more each time so that everyone can compare and judge our progress.

Hi guys.

Yesterday's performance was simply great,

but I'm sure we are capable of even more.

A review of all sections' performance since Late June (My personal opinion):

弹拨乐：8.5/10

笛子：8/10

笙/唢呐：6.5/10

打击乐：8/10

Cello/Bass：9/10

弦乐：7.5/10

Note that the above is not to start any wars,

but to let you guys know what I feel after 3 months of practice.

It is not entirely accurate as these are only my points of view.

However, let's hope that everyone will improve by End of Year as we go full steam ahead.

Practice will resume again on 10/10/2008 (Friday).

Wednesday practices have commenced.

Please report to CO Room every Wednesday by 3pm.

For those who cannot make it or will come late,

please inform your SLs.

For the Sec 2s going for some event tmrw,

those leaving at 2 plus will have to report back to the CO Room after the trip if it ends before 6pm.

For those whose trip are at 4.30pm,

2) Annual Phototaking

This is for the school magazine.

We will be taking the photos on Thursday morning.

The photographers will arrive at 7.30am.

Practice analysis

Hi guys.

I'm sure you know that Wednesday's practice was screwed.

Thus, I won't talk about it anymore.

However, for yesterday,

it was WAY much better.

We are on course now as we aim to finish the song by week 2.

On Wednesday, the best performing section would be 笙/唢呐.

Among the rest, yeah.

Thursday, to me,

would be the 中阮.

Despite only having 3 ppl present at 4.45pm,

in which all were Sec 1s,

and faced many tough tests by Wei lao shi in the next hour,

they held on and managed to receive an "OK" from Wei lao shi.

Good job! ^^

Have a good break, and finish up your remaining homework.

Please be reminded that practices will be as usual next week,

and note that dazu will now be conducted on Wednesdays as well.

二战期间，在波兰奥斯维辛集中营，关着一个年轻的小提琴爱好者沙尼克，他被关进集中营已有两年了。两年中，他从未停止“拉”小提琴。没有琴，也没有琴弓，沙尼克如何拉小提琴呢？在集中营枯燥乏味而又时刻被死亡窒息的漫长日子里，白天，沙尼克做苦工，到了晚上，等其他的囚犯都睡下了，他将腿从床边垂下来，抬起下巴，双手摆出拉琴的姿势，开始“演奏”舒曼、勃拉姆斯和莫扎特的乐曲。

黑暗中，沙尼克可以听见欢快的音符在他周围的空气里跳动……

这天黎明，沙尼克正在忘我地练琴，一群新来的囚犯被关进了他们的囚室。纳粹士兵用枪托逼着他们五六个人一排，坐在床铺的木板上。这时，不可思议的事情发生了，一个名叫马斯特的囚犯把目光投向沙尼克，从他的眼神里，沙尼克得到了这样的信息：你的小提琴拉得非常动听。是的，沙尼克可以肯定，他从马斯特那里得来的就是这个信息，这是不可能的，但是却又真的发生了。

在囚犯的叫骂和哭喊声中，沙尼克没有跟马斯特打招呼，当然，马斯特也不可能回答他。后来，沙尼克向新来囚犯打听到，这个马斯特是一位著名的犹太籍小提琴演奏家。

沙尼克兴奋不已，多少个日子以来，没有人能够听到他演奏的乐曲，没有人能够与他产生共鸣。如今，马斯特来了，他的知音来了，这是上帝送给他的礼物。

这天晚上熄灯后，沙尼克坐在床边轻声叫唤：马斯特。 　　

没有回音。

第二天晚上，沙尼克试图再次与马斯特交谈。马斯特，沙尼克轻声呼唤，但马斯特仍旧没有回答他。

第三天晚上，沙尼克放弃了找马斯特交谈的念头。他坐在床边，伸手抬臂，又开始如痴如醉地“演奏”小提琴。他用想象中的琴弓拉了舒曼的一段悠长而跌宕的慢板，接着又突然变成勃拉姆斯的一段快速的回旋曲。他闭上眼睛欣赏着自己的演奏，感受着一个个音符在自由的灵魂中跳荡。当沙尼克睁开眼睛，他已经演奏完了莫扎特的一个短而急促的乐章。突然，沙尼克的手臂停下了，他发现马斯特正侧卧在床铺上，面向他，闭着双眼，手指随着冥冥之中沙尼克的音乐节拍在床板上轻轻叩着节拍。发觉沙尼克的“演奏”突然停止，马斯特睁开了眼睛，对正看着自己的沙尼克竖起了大拇指。

一天晚上，一群纳粹士兵冲进了沙尼克的囚室。他们念着囚犯的号码，凡是手臂上的刺青数字与所报号码相同的囚犯都站了出来，囚犯们心里明白，这些站出来的人，他们的生命即将走到尽头。人们无助又无奈地默祷，不要念到自己手臂上的数字。囚室里静悄悄的，只有沉重的呼吸声充斥着每个人的耳膜。

当最后一个号码念完，所有坐着的囚犯都长长地出了一口气。而坐在床沿的沙尼克却突然的紧张起来，他记得，最后一个念出的号码正是马斯特的刺青数字!沙尼克看向马斯特，果然，他正慢慢地爬下床。 　　

天啊!沙尼克的喉头里发出一丝呻吟，这难得的知音，这上帝赐给我的礼物今晚就要消失了吗？

突然，沙尼克飞快地滑下床铺，站到了还未下床的马斯特身边，伸出双手做了一个拉小提琴的动作。“留下吧，”沙尼克轻声对马斯特说，“为了音乐，请你留下来!”

马斯特睁大眼睛，摇摇头，正要说什么，沙尼克已经走到了纳粹士兵的面前，缓缓地走出了囚室，走进了黑夜，走出了马斯特的视线。集中营里昏暗的灯光将他的背影拖得很长很长……

不久，苏联军队解放了奥斯维辛集中营，小提琴家马斯特幸存了下来。

和平的日子里，马斯特在世界各地举办了无数场音乐会，场场爆满。他的琴声震撼着人们的灵魂，他用琴弦上跳荡的音符讲述着希望、爱和春天，讲述着孩子，讲述着和睦的家庭，讲述着这世上一切美好的东西。

马斯特的每一场音乐会都保留着一个特殊的节目：在骤然昏暗下来的舞台灯光里，他轻轻放下手里的小提琴，慢慢闭上双眼，两臂悬空，激情地“演奏”那段早已渗入他灵魂的科莱利的乐章。

“为了音乐，请你留下来。”

他留下来了，此刻他相信，奥斯维辛集中营的难友和兄弟沙尼克，正在天堂聆听着他无声的“演奏”……

AGAIN.

Forget it I'm just speechless about yesterday's dazu.

I word.

DISAPPOINTING.

What else can we say?

Perhaps it's just me, I'm taking things too seriously.

Perhaps it's the entire CO, being COMPLACENT.

Perhaps it's us EXCOs and SLs trying to be too perfect.

Whatever.

It's pretty shocking to find that,

at the rate we are progressing and behaving,

the Gold-with-Honours earned by Patrick's batch and sustained excellently by Hubert's batch would be ruined in our hands.

However, kudos should be given to sheng/suona, who made tremendous improvement yesterday.

Just a warning:

For us current Sec 3s, we would be graduating next year instantly after SYF.

If we fail to secure GWH again,

To speak nicely, the next batch would need massive rebuilding.

To sound ugly, the efforts made by our past 6 batches of seniors would be gone.

AND YOU, the current Sec 2s will be the ones carrying this during your leadership term.

I can promise to you that we are doing our very best.

I swear.

But are you guys doing anything about it?

People have been using some lame excuses to get away.

It's a trend so if you use it again, it's kind of expected.

The top 2 are:

1) PROJECT.

2) 2ND CCA.

And come late for CO!!!

We are more busy than you guys, but we make lots of effort to come,

only to see you guys not there.

Everytime the clock strikes 2.30pm,

there are only about 20 people sometimes.

I'm speechless.

I won't say anything anymore.

It's VIRTUALLY useless, anyway.

1) Practices every week

Practices would be held standard every Monday and Friday.

To save money and time on SMS,

this is for your information.

Xiaozu on Monday will always start at 3pm, and dazu on Friday at 2.30pm.

So your SLs and ASLs might not SMS you about such stuff in the future.

If they do, please reply as it would probably be important stuff.

SLs and ASLs are also reminded to contact your teachers when xiaozu approaches.

Should you face any problem please do not hesitate to tell long lao shi, liu lao shi or any of the EXCO.

To date,

our progress for our SYF piece has been quite good.

WELL DONE EVERYONE!!! =D

Just some annoucements before the National Day break.

1) CIP

Please remember to hand in the consent forms to your SLs by tmrw, Thursday 7/8/08.

Again, remember to report outside CO Room by 9am and await instructions.

If there is enough time, Long lao shi mauy allow you 20 mins to take breakfast.

2) No practice on Monday, 11/8/08

As that day is a National Day holiday,

all school CCAs are cancelled, so that applies for our xiaozu practice as well.

SLs and ASLs, please remember to inform your teachers of the break.

3) Dazu on Wednesday, 13/8/08

Due to the dazu breaks after our MRs, National Day and Wei lao shi being unable to make it on next Friday (15/8/08),

a dazu practice will be held on Wednesday to make up for the 2 cancelled practices.

Please report to CO Room at 3pm sharp after assembly and contact time.

SLs and ASLs, please remind your members again when time comes.

4) Sec 4 farewell Party

We will emphasize once again.

THIS EVENT WILL DEFINITELY BE HELD.

For those who are wondering if the event has been cancelled,

Updates

Hi all.

Not feeling too good today,

so will make this fast.

THERE WILL NOT BE ANY PERFORMANCE ON 8/8/2008.

This is the answer for the members who are confused.

This is due to the upcoming CIP on that day.

Report to school as per normal,

but report to CO Room by 9.30am in your PE attire.

Prepare basic necessities, like:

Water Bottle

Poncho or Umbrella

Cap (If you want)

A portable radio

Your hands!

For the benefit of those who did not come today,

this will be the events for that day.

30,000 teens from all over Singapore will hold hands and form a route of about 20km.

When that is done, everyone will tune in to FM 91.3 and recite the Singapore Pledge as one.

There will be student leaders leading in cheers before that.

Any hands not held, the mission is unsuccessful (That's what they said.)

Thus, in commemoration of our Nation's 43rd birthday,

let us hold hands, and be part of the celebrations!

Practice should be cancelled on Friday,

but please read the CO blog constantly to check for updates.

I will confirm it by Wednesday lastest.

Hi guys.

Exams are coming, so this will be my final post until next Friday.

Yesterday's dazu wasn't really that good,

although we made progress.

Noise level was a bit high as usual,

but the worse case was that someone in erhu took sweet drinks in CO Room AGAIN.

As what Jason said yesterday,

please do not do so as it will dirty the CO Room!

Anyway, practice will only resume next Friday at 2.30pm.

Hey guys.

Hope you had a good break.

To sum up yesterday's dazu,

on the overall it was actually not bad, except that the noise level was a bit too high.

Please remain silent while other sections practice!

You can make use of the time to rest, but please refrain from talking!

It might distract the others while they are drilled by wei lao shi.

Anyway, here are some annoucements and rules here that might benefit you all.

1) NO EATING IN THE CO ROOM.

This has been repeated again and again by generations of seniors.

Yet, this was seen AGAIN yesterday in the CO Room.

Please take pride of the cleanliness of the CO Room!

The entire group will be punished if someone is caught again.

2) No playing of any sweaty games during breaks or before practice.

Some members were caught by Jason playing soccer.

Take note that if you are sweaty before practice especially dazu,

we will not allow you to enter the CO Room.

This is serious as we do not want our CO Room to stink.

A first warning was given to the members involved,

but we will not hesitate to punish next time.

3) Annoucement to SLs and ASLs

Some things for SLs and ASLs to note:

--> Please collate your 2 members involved in helping out CH Primary CO on Tuesday for their SYF Closing Ceremony. Please submit by Sunday to Jason.

--> Sec 4 farewell party has been postponed to after the MRs. Please DO NOT ASK your members first. Will update you guys ASAP once the new date is announced.

4) PROBABLE BEIJING TRIP

Their might be a Beijing trip during early December.

Cost is about $1800, but there will be subsidy.

It will depend on the number of people,

so please ask more people to go if you want a bigger subsidy.

We need at least 45 members to go perform at Bejing's Art Festival.

Some reminders

Hi people.

Hope you're enjoying your 3rd week.

Here are some reminders for you to note:

1) No playing of the drumset before dazu/xiaozu.

Mind that the LT is only beside the CO Room, and as the "O" Level approaches,

More and more students will be using it.

Please refrain from playing the drumset or it shall be removed, if necessary.

2) Practice for SYF choice piece- 梦蝶

We understand that there are some parts where rhythm is a problem.

Please practice at home during your free time if you can as we aim to meet our first goal this Friday,

which is 67 bars.

Should you face any difficulty,

please do not hesitate to ask your seniors or teachers (during xiaozu) for help.

3) Practice this Friday.

Take note that there will be practice this Friday, 18 July 2008.

Report to CO Room at 2.30pm sharp and await further instructions.

If you will be late, please inform your respective SLs or ASLs.

Hi guys.

Some annoucements here...

1) Please take note that there won't be any practice this coming Friday (4/7/2008) due to preparations for homecoming. However, if you wish to contribute, you may want to join us to set-up the stall. We will be selling drinks, but what we need is people to decorate before Saturday. Those who are willing to do their part please contact Jason, Zhen Wei, Xuan Ming, Kenneth or Lim Qian for further information.

2) Members who have stated that they want to contribute drinks, please place your contributions in the CO Room by the very latest Saturday. However, you might like to place by Friday so that we can take note of the total number of drinks.

3) We would like to repeat this again: NO FOOD AND DRINKS AND BALL GAMES IN THE CO ROOM. If you are caught doing so, you will be severely dealt with.

Hello people.

Welcome to the CO blog... with the new EXCO handling it now. Blogging for the entire EXCO here...

Here I am blogging to live up to Hubert's expectation of keeping the blog alive! Haha.
